Steel Connections Workshop
This is a full-day "hands-on" session using Limcon, the designated
companion program for the new Australian Steel Institute Connections Series.

Worked examples from the design guides in the ASI Connections
Series will be covered for these categories:
* Shear connections.
* Bolted moment end plate connections and splices.
* Welded beam/column connections and splices.
* Column stiffening.
* Bolt groups and weld groups.
Other connection types will be covered with reference to the latest
information published by the American Institute of Steel Construction
(AISC) and CIDECT:
* Flush moment end plate connections
* Gusset plate bracing connections.
* Pinned and moment base plates.
* Hollow section connections.
Special Topics
* Thin and thick end plates - avoiding the cost of column flange doublers.
* Special connections (1-row WSP, flush haunched BMEP, small beam BMEP).
* HSS base plate tension strength.
* Eccentric cleats.
* Structural integrity requirements - connections to avoid.
* Bolt bearing strength.
Who Should Attend?
Anyone who needs to design or check steel connections and senior designers
who need to understand how design methods affect the cost of steel connections.
It is recommended that attendees should bring the full set of ASI design
guides for reference.
Venue
The workshop will be held at a state-of-the-art CBD training facility.
All necessary software will be provided for the duration of the workshop.
Morning and afternoon tea/coffee and lunch will be provided.
